Bodegas Navalon has been the passion of the same local family for several generations. Drawing on centuries of winemaking history, the wines are crafted in the rural heartland of Spain where the rugged landscapes, ancient soils and extreme temperatures provide the perfect conditions for growing vines. The local winemakers are experts in harnessing the power of these extreme conditions to produce bold, rich and expressive wines with a uniquely Spanish character.
WINEMAKING & VINEYARDS
WINEMAKER: MARIA JOSÉ MARCHANTE WINERY: BODEGAS NAVALON
Made from 100% Tempranillo, the grapes were hand picked from 30 year-old vines.
Valdepeñas means “valley of rocks”, the soils are clayey lime with a chalky layer which
retains water to refresh the vines. Altitude helps moderate the classic continental cli-
mate. Controlled fermentation was at temperatures (below 28o C) in stainless steel
tanks. The wine was then matured for at least eighteen months in oak barriques with
varying toasting levels.
TASTING NOTES
A lovely range of aroma characteristics including: black cherry, balsamic, and vanilla lead to a rounded palate of concentrated red fruit flavours, mellow tannins and a smooth finish. Medium to full bodied with a lovely finesse.
FOOD MATCH
The wine would be perfect with lamb cutlets, roast pork or simply with a variety of
cheeses.
