This policy explains what personal information Liquor Library Ltd collects through liquorlibrary.co.nz, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We follow the Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email, phone number, delivery and billing address, and what you bought. Card details are handled by our payment provider at checkout. We do not see or store your full card number.
- When you create an account: your name, email and password, your order history and saved addresses.
- When you contact us or fill in a form (contact, report a problem, trade account, events, corporate gifts): the details you type in, plus any photo or file you attach.
- When you sign up for emails: your email address and which offers you want.
- When you browse: information about how you use the website, such as pages viewed, products looked at, and your device and browser, collected through cookies.
By using this website you confirm that you are 18 or over.
Why we collect it
- To take, pack and deliver your order, and to check you are 18 or over.
- To answer your questions and sort out problems with orders.
- To set up and run trade accounts.
- To tell you about new offers, if you have agreed to hear from us.
- To understand how the website is used and improve our range and the website.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as tax records.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the companies that help us run the store, and only what they need:
- Shopify, which runs our online store and checkout;
- payment providers, to take payment;
- courier companies, to deliver your order;
- email and website service providers, to send order emails, newsletters and form messages.
Some of these companies store information outside New Zealand, for example in Canada, the United States or Australia. We use providers that protect personal information in a way comparable to New Zealand law.
We may also share information when the law requires it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep your cart and sign-in working, and to understand how the website is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the website, such as the cart, may stop working.
Marketing emails
We only send marketing emails if you have agreed to them. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and you can change your email preferences in your account at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the reasons above, or as long as the law requires (for example, order records for tax).
How we keep it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our store and checkout run over a secure (HTTPS) connection.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. You can update most details yourself in your account. To make a request, email info@liquorlibrary.co.nz. We will reply within 20 working days.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
