From the highest distillery in Scotland (at 326 metres above sea level), set in the windswept Grampian mountains of the Highlands, comes this delicate malt to be savoured. Originally called 'Strathspey', the Dalwhinnie distillery was founded by James Buchanan in 1897. Buchanan became well known for his 'Buchanan' and 'Black & White' blends which used Dalwhinnie as a core component. Later renamed 'Dalwhinnie', (Gaelic for “meeting place” ) the distilleries site is where cattle drovers and smugglers met on their way to markets in the south.

Dalwhinnie is Scotland's highest distillery, and one of the most remote, in the middle of the Grampian mountains. A historical meeting place in this exposed, rugged terrain, it has had an interesting history! Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a crisp, dry aromatic nose, then soft flavours of heather, honey-sweetness, malt and citrus-fruits lead to a lingering, sweet finish and finally more smoke, peat and malt.Aroma: Light to medium intensity; little complexity. First impression is of orange juice, with some grainy mustard; mead-like, or like concentrated white wine.
Flavour: Smooth and somewhat waxy; tangy and mouth-drying; easy to drink. The overall flavour is dry with a bitter finish and aftertaste. Some heather flowers.
