Carrick Unravelled is our early drinking offering for Pinot Noir lovers. The name references the Carrick Bend our symbol of the people and land, here it is a metaphor for the more relaxed style of this wine.
The vineyard is tended by hand, allowing for careful management of individual vines, throughout the season. Each parcel is hand-harvested, destemmed, and undergoes a wild fermentation, in tank, before being pressed and barreled down. Care is taken to monitor and adjust cap management to the unique conditions of each ferment. Matured in barrel for 10 months, 13% new oak. Made from predominantly Dijon clones on various rootstocks, from vines planted in 1996.
The 2020 Unravelled has an impressive nose with notes of raspberry jam and black doris plum. This follows through to the palate where it is wrapped with soft, grainy tannins and a savoury, leathery note builds on the fruit. Notes of vanilla come through on the finish. A touch wild and gamey, this wine has the ability to age as well as drinking beautifully in youth.
Soft, plush, delicious.
