The story of Courvoisier VS 3 Star

Courvoisier is a cognac house based in Jarnac, on the banks of the Charente River, and it dates its foundation to 1828. In 1869 Napoleon III named it Official Supplier to the Imperial Court, and the house still has its headquarters in a chateau in Jarnac today.

The VS is the entry point to the range. Eaux-de-vie distilled without their lees supply the apple, pear and grapefruit notes. Spring blossom runs through the middle, which is the house style, and Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie distilled with their lees add length and a fresh oaky finish. The house suggests pairing it with Comté, the aged cheese from the Jura.

Courvoisier has long known that cognac mixes well. In the 1950s Chief Blender André Boufflet developed Gala, a cognac made specifically for mixing. The VS suits that style: pour it over ice and top it with ginger ale or tonic and a twist of lemon, or sip it neat.
