The story of Beefeater Pink Gin

Beefeater is a London gin, started by James Burrough, who bought a distillery in Chelsea in 1862 and was making his own gin by 1863. Production moved to Kennington in 1958, and Beefeater is still distilled there today. The brand is now part of Pernod Ricard.

Beefeater Pink starts from the original Beefeater London Dry recipe, which uses nine botanicals listed in the 1895 recipe book: juniper, angelica root and seed, coriander seed, liquorice, almond, orris root, Seville orange and lemon peel. Natural strawberry flavour is added to that recipe, and the result is a soft natural pink.

At 37.5 per cent it is a little lighter than the 40 per cent London Dry. The taste leads with sweet strawberry, over a soft juniper and citrus finish.

Serve it over ice or with tonic or lemonade, garnished with fresh strawberries. Beefeater's own Pink Gin 75 is 25ml of Pink with 15ml of elderflower liqueur in a flute, topped with prosecco and finished with a strawberry.
