The story of Somersby Blackbry 12x330B

Somersby is a cider brand from Carlsberg, the Danish brewer. It was first made in Denmark in 2008 and is now sold in dozens of countries. The branding presents it as the creation of a fictional English gentleman, Lord Somersby, though it has no connection to the English village of the same name.

This is the blackberry version, a sweet fruit cider with a light sparkle, and Carlsberg sells it as a cider. Carlsberg describes the flavour as a natural, mild blackberry, with a balanced fruity taste that is smooth, sweet and slightly sour. That touch of sourness stops the sweetness from running away with it.

The pack is twelve 330 ml bottles. Serve it cold, straight from the fridge. The sweet berry flavour works against salty food, so a bowl of chips, some nuts or a sharp cheddar suit it well.
