      The story of Heineken Slim 12x250C

      Heineken began in Amsterdam on 15 February 1864, when Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought a brewery called De Hooiberg, The Haystack, on the Nieuwezijds Achterburgwal canal. The family name has been on the lager ever since, along with the green bottle and red star.

      Gerard brought in Dr Elion, a student of Louis Pasteur, to develop a yeast suited to bottom fermentation, and the brewery still ferments with its own A-yeast. The recipe is short: water, malted barley and hops. A full brew takes 28 days, and the result is a 5% lager with a crisp finish and a light fruity note.

      This pack is twelve 250ml slim cans, a smaller serve than the usual can, which makes it handy for sharing round at a barbecue. Serve it cold, straight from the fridge or an ice bucket. It suits pizza, grilled seafood and salty snacks.
