The story of Bacardi Spiced Rum
Bacardi Spiced is aged rum finished with natural flavours and spices, and charred American oak barrels give it a light smokiness. It comes from Bacardi, a company that has made rum in Puerto Rico since 1936 and has stayed family owned for seven generations, and which describes itself as the largest privately held, family owned spirits company in the world.
The brand describes the flavour as caramel like vanilla with subtle almond, dried dark fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey. On the nose it is vanilla and cinnamon, the palate is sweet and spiced, and the finish carries black pepper and fudge.
Its serves are simple. The brand pairs it with cola, with ginger beer in a Spiced Mule, and with ginger ale, soda or pineapple juice. Build it in a tall glass over plenty of ice and the spice holds its own against a sweet mixer. This bottle is a full litre.
