PassionfruitAlizé is a French passion fruit liqueur brand that Kobrand Corporation introduced in 1984 at a wine and spirits wholesalers' convention in New Orleans. Bleu Passion came twenty years later, unveiled at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes in 2004 as a blue-coloured sibling to the original Gold Passion.
Blue in colour, it blends premium French vodka and Cognac with passion fruit, cherry and a hint of ginger. The brand describes it as bold and bursting with vivid passion fruit and ripe cherries, with a little spice at the end. The Gold Passion that started the Alizé family is the original, and Bleu is the one that adds cherry and ginger to the passion fruit.
Alizé's own recipes show how it is meant to be used. The Bleu Breeze is Bleu Passion with fresh pineapple juice and a splash of club soda in a tall glass of ice. The Bleu Royal adds vodka, coconut rum and a splash of pineapple juice for something more tropical. The brand also recommends it simply on the rocks.
