The story of Brown Bros Moscato

Brown Brothers Moscato is a lightly sparkling white wine from Victoria, made from Muscat of Alexandria. Muscat was among the first vines John Francis Brown planted at Milawa in 1885, alongside Riesling and Shiraz, and Brown Brothers was the first Australian wine company to launch a Moscato on the local market, in the late 1990s.

The wine is bottled soon after fermentation, which keeps it fresh and aromatic. It is light straw with youthful green tinges, with a soft musk aroma that mixes citrus and freshly crushed grapes. The palate is a vibrant, mouth-filling sherbet flavour, finishing with a delicate sparkle and a gentle sweetness.

That aromatic lift suits spicy food, because the sweetness balances chilli heat. Loaded Vietnamese rice paper rolls are a good match. For something simpler, a soft cheese with slices of green apple works well.

Keep it in the fridge until you open it, and drink it young. It is made for freshness rather than cellaring.
