The story of Grant Burge Ink Barossa CabS

The Barossa Valley is best known for Shiraz, but Grant Burge also makes a Cabernet Sauvignon there under its Ink label, dry and weighty in the glass. Separate lots of Barossa wine are blended into a deeply coloured red with great depth and varietal definition.

The Burge family's wine story in the Barossa stretches back to 1865, when Meshach Burge installed fermenting tanks in one of his sheds to make wine for friends and family. The flagship Meshach wine is named after Grant Burge's great-grandfather.

The bouquet is rich with blackcurrant, mint and dark chocolate. The palate has a textural quality, with fine tannins, excellent persistence and intense chocolate and berry flavours running through a long finish.

Serve it between 12 and 18 degrees, in a Bordeaux glass with a smaller bowl than a standard red wine glass. Any Italian meat dish suits it, and the wine can be enjoyed now or kept for up to seven years.
