      The story of Jim Beam

Jim Beam bourbon is made in Kentucky, and the Beam family has been at it since 1795, when Jacob Beam sold his first barrel of Old Jake Beam Sour Mash. Seven generations of the family have been involved in making the whiskey. The brand took the name Jim Beam in 1943, after James B. Beam, who rebuilt the distillery after Prohibition ended. Today it is owned by Suntory.

Bourbon has rules. It must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51 per cent corn and aged in new charred American oak. Jim Beam's mash is corn with rye and malted barley, distilled twice and aged in new, heavily charred American white oak barrels. The standard Jim Beam spends four years in barrel, twice the two years the law requires for straight bourbon. The charring is where the caramel, vanilla and oak flavour comes from.

This pack is Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey mixed with zero sugar cola, ten 330 ml cans at 4.8 per cent alcohol. Serve it very cold, or pour it over ice with a wedge of lime.
