The story of Lindauer Fraise

Lindauer is a New Zealand sparkling wine brand that has been going since 1981 and describes itself as the country's number one sparkling label. Today the wines are made by Lion's North Island winemaking team, whose operations include Gisborne and Hawke's Bay, under head winemaker Jane De Witt, who is described as New Zealand's most awarded sparkling winemaker.

Fraise is the pink, strawberry-led wine in the Classic range. It is made from Pinot Noir grapes and gently infused with a natural strawberry essence, and that essence gives it its name, as fraise is the French word for strawberry. In the glass it is a pinky-gold salmon colour with a subtle strawberry aroma. The palate is full and elegant, with a hint of sweetness and a lingering taste of strawberries. It is bottled at 12 per cent.

Serve it well chilled in a flute or a wine glass. The sweetness and berry flavour suit a brunch table, fresh strawberries and cream, or a soft cheese board. This is the full 750ml bottle.
