The story of Lindauer S/Blanc

Lindauer Sauvignon Blanc is a sparkling white made from Sauvignon Blanc alone, with fruit from South Australia and New Zealand blended together. At 13 per cent alcohol it is the strongest wine in the Lindauer Classic range, and it comes in the 750ml bottle as well as a 200ml mini.

Montana made the first Lindauer from the 1980 harvest and launched it in time for Christmas 1981. The grape in this bottle was a latecomer to New Zealand: it was first planted here in the 1970s as an experiment, with the idea of blending it into Müller-Thurgau.

The bubbles suit Sauvignon Blanc's bright character. Expect passionfruit, fresh-cut grass and zingy citrus, with a crisp, refreshing feel and a zesty, weighty finish.

Pour it cold with mussels or fish, or soft cheeses, whose creaminess the acidity cuts through. A salad of figs and goat's cheese dressed with honey and lemon is another good match.
