The story of Yalumba Organic Shiraz

Yalumba was founded in 1849 near Angaston in South Australia's Barossa Valley by Samuel Smith, an English brewer who had emigrated from Dorset two years earlier. It is still a family owned company and belongs to Australia's First Families of Wine.

This Shiraz is made from certified organic fruit grown at family owned vineyards across South Australia, including sites in the Riverland and McLaren Vale. It is 100% Shiraz, left on skins for one to three days, and Yalumba keeps the winemaking light, with wild yeast ferments and wild malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, and no oak at all. It carries Australian Certified Organic certification.

With no oak in the way, the fruit leads. Expect violets, plum, blueberry and a touch of spice, in a medium bodied style with soft tannins and a juicy finish.

Yalumba suggests suckling pig with an apple and walnut salad, or a mushroom burger with caramelised onion.
