The story of Allan Scott Sauv Blanc

Allan Scott planted some of Marlborough's first vines in 1973, working on one of the region's earliest vineyards, and bought his own block in 1975. In 1990 he and his wife Cathy started Allan Scott Wines on Jacksons Road, Blenheim, back when the region had none of today's 150-plus wineries. The first export container, stacked by hand, left for the United Kingdom in 1992.

Their children, Josh Scott and Sara Stocker, grew up on the family vineyards and bought the company from their father in 2021. They run it as Allan Scott Family Winemakers, and the winery is still on the original Jacksons Road site.

The Estate Range Sauvignon Blanc is classically structured, with lime zest, Meyer lemon and rockmelon over a base of passionfruit curd, and lively acidity. Each vineyard block is picked on flavour, the juice is fermented cool in stainless steel with no oak and no malolactic fermentation, and the wine rests on light lees for several months before the best lots are blended. The winemaker suggests serving it chilled on its own or with delicate white meat dishes.
