The story of Jack Daniels

Jack Daniel's is made in Lynchburg, Tennessee, where Jack Daniel set up his distillery beside a cave spring with iron-free water, after learning the trade from Dan Call, a Lutheran minister and whiskey maker. The distillery has been running for more than 150 years, and the brand says every bottle is still made there.

Old No. 7 is a Tennessee whiskey rather than a bourbon because of one extra step. The mash is about 80 percent corn, 12 percent rye and 8 percent malted barley. The spirit is distilled twice, then dripped through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal, a method known as the Lincoln County Process, before going into new charred white oak barrels. Since 2013, Tennessee law has required that step for any whiskey labelled Tennessee Whiskey.

This 700ml bottle is 40% ABV, and the square bottle shape is a trademark Jack chose when everyone else used round ones. Pour it neat or over ice, or mix it long with cola or ginger ale.
