CitrusMalt & grainCrisp appleParty & Bullshit first appeared on 11 August 2016, with label art by T-Wei, and the brewery calls it an East Coast Anthem IPA. It earned a loyal following quickly: in the 2018 GABS Hottest 100 Kiwi Craft Beers poll it came in at number five.
Garage Project's idea of an East Coast IPA is bigger and juicier than a bitter West Coast one. Simcoe and Mosaic supply the hops, and the flavour leans into mango and other tropical fruit. At 6.2% ABV it is a full-strength IPA, so the juiciness is backed by real weight.
Fruit and spice get along well, so this IPA is a good fit for butter chicken, a green papaya salad or prawn tacos with fresh mango salsa. Naan or a bowl of coconut rice would not go amiss either.
The beer comes in a single 440ml can.
