The story of Graham Nortons Irish Gin

Graham Norton's Own Irish Gin is distilled by West Cork Distillers in West Cork, Ireland, near the presenter's home, and it reached shelves in early 2019. The idea came up in London the year before. Graham was blending wine with the Invivo team, the three-hour tasting ended with martinis, and it was over those drinks that he suggested an Irish gin.

It is a small batch London Dry style gin built on twelve botanicals: juniper berry, coriander, angelica, lemon peel, bitter orange peel, liquorice root, orris root, gooseberry, basil, elderflower, rose hips and fuchsia flowers. Some of those are foraged locally when conditions allow. Kaffir lime and juniper lead on the nose, and a twist of lemon in a tonic brings the citrus forward and leaves a crisp finish.

The makers suggest a premium tonic with a twist of lemon or lime, and that is the obvious place to start. Given how the project began, a dry martini is the other natural serve. Stir it over ice with a little dry vermouth and finish with a strip of lemon peel.
