The story of Larios Rose Pink Gin
Larios Rosé is the pink gin from Larios, the Spanish gin house with more than 150 years of history behind it. Beam Suntory's Spanish arm is the producer. This bottle is the one where strawberries come into the recipe alongside the usual gin botanicals.
Twelve botanicals go in, among them wild juniper, orange blossom and a spread of citrus fruits, and the spirit is distilled four times. The strawberries give the gin its soft pink colour and its fruity character, and they sit next to the citrus rather than burying it.
In the glass the nose is strawberry and citrus. The taste is soft and slightly sweet without turning cloying, which is why it works so well as a long drink. The makers recommend a gin and tonic built over plenty of ice and garnished with cut strawberries or raspberries. Their second idea is a lighter one: about 5cl of the gin in a chilled glass of ice, topped with lemon-lime soda and finished with a few pieces of berry.
