The story of Lindauer Rose

Lindauer Rosé is a sparkling pink wine made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in South Australia, with a small amount of New Zealand Pinotage added for its blush colour and a little extra texture. It is bottled at 11 per cent alcohol.

The name belongs to a painter rather than a place. Gottfried Lindauer was born in Plzeň, Bohemia, in 1839, died in Woodville, New Zealand, in 1926, and is best known for his portraits of Māori. The sparkling label that took his name was created by Montana Wines.

This one is a drier style, well balanced, with fresh strawberry and red berry fruit, a touch of citrus and a creamy, soft finish that lifts and lingers.

Serve it cold with cured meats, smoked fish and dips, or a cheese and cracker plate. For something sweet alongside, meringue with cream and a berry compote suits the strawberry character.
