The story of Metala White Label CabS

William Formby, an Englishman, bought the Metala property in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, in 1882. In 1891 he and his son Arthur planted 21 rows of Shiraz and 14 rows of Cabernet Sauvignon, and that old vineyard is still the heart of the Metala name.

Guy Adams is the fifth generation of the family. The Adams family now owns the Metala brand again after it passed through several corporate owners over the decades, and Jim Urlwin leads the winemaking. White Label is a three-wine range made with fruit from the newer vines and some of the older vineyard material.

This Cabernet Sauvignon is 14.5% alcohol. It is earthy and a little chocolatey, with crushed red berries, a tangy freshness and mid-weight tannins.

It is a natural for the barbecue. Think rump steak, lamb cutlets or a burger with melted cheese and a bit of relish.
