The story of Chard Farm Finla Mor P/N

Finla Mor is the Chard Farm Pinot Noir built around the Cromwell Basin in Central Otago. The fruit comes from selected vineyards on raised terraces at Lowburn and Parkburn, and the winery says they are farmed with organic practices.

The soils there are schist gravel, which the winery credits for the wine's purity and minerality. Each vineyard is hand harvested and fermented in small lots. It is 100% Pinot Noir, bottled under screwcap, and vegan friendly. The 2023 sat at a moderate 12.5% alcohol.

The bouquet is a mix of fruit and forest aromas: fresh red cherry, blackcurrant and violets. The palate is balanced and carries expressive red berry fruit, with silky tannin and a fine thread of acidity that gives it freshness and energy rather than weight.

That lighter build suits food with some savoury depth. Roast chicken with thyme, a mushroom risotto or pan-seared salmon with lentils all work. Serve it lightly cool.
