Roku Gin 700ml features a Japanese craft gin infused with unique seasonal botanicals. This elegant gin delivers balanced citrus and delicate floral notes.
CitrusRoku is a Japanese craft gin from Suntory, the company founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii. Suntory has been making gin since 1936, and Roku is made at its Liquor Atelier in Osaka. The name means six, for the six Japanese botanicals at the heart of the recipe: sakura flower, sakura leaf, yuzu peel, sencha tea, gyokuro tea and sansho pepper.
Each ingredient is gathered at its seasonal peak, which the Japanese call shun, and is distilled on its own so its character is not lost. The Liquor Atelier has four different types of pot still to do this. The Japanese botanicals are then combined with eight classic gin ingredients, among them juniper, coriander, cardamom and citrus peels. The bottle is hexagonal, with Japanese calligraphy and embossed cherry blossom on the glass.
In the glass the nose is cherry blossom and green tea, floral and a little sweet. Yuzu leads on the palate, the texture is smooth and silky, and the sansho pepper adds a gentle spice at the finish. The suggested serve is a gin and tonic made with a classic tonic and a few thin slices of fresh ginger.
